Employment/Job Site Configuration

Within most of the employment sites we have been asked about there are two groups of users that will have two different purposes when using an employment site. One group are usually individuals putting their resumes up on the site to have employers browse the site and should post freely and not be able to view other resumes in the system. The second group is employers who will need access to those posted resumes but need to pay for access to those resumes on a subscription basis. Note that this configuration only expects the job seeker to post their resumes within the system but of course you have a multitude of configurations to change that model to what you need.

Two User Groups Needed

If this is the configuration you are looking for you will need to create two user groups with two different price plans.

Resume Poster or Job Seeker User Group Price Plan

The resume poster or job applicant user group will need to be able to post a maximum of one listing within the system. There is no need for someone looking for a job to be able to post more than one resume but you can of course allow more than one if you need. You make max listings allowed configuration within the COST SPECIFICS admin tool for the price plan attached to the job applicant user group. We suggest this user group price plan combination be a "fee-based" price plan. You can set that price plan to charge nothing to place their resume within the system. Or if you like set this to charge to place a resume into the system. You can charge on a fee basis.

Business Seeking Employees User Group Price Plan

This user group will contain all businesses that seek to search all resumes posted to your site. This user group and price plan combination will need to be subscription based. Within this price plan you can enter all of the subscription periods you want your business clients to purchase and have access to resumes within the system. As stated above this user groups price plan will have the max allowed listing setting to 0 not allowing them to post into the site.

Additional Configurations

You will need to change following admin tool setting to "yes" so that no one without a current subscription within the system can view the details of a resume.

SITE SETUP > BROWSING SETTINGS > Require Login to View Listings

Results and additional options

Any users in the job applicant user group would never be able to view any resumes within the system as they are in a fee-based price plan and can't purchase a subscription. Any users within the employers user group would not be able to search all resumes posted on the site as they are the only ones that can purchase a subscription.

Using the registration code feature you can have new registrants register into the user group they need to be in. From there they can post their resume or purchase a subscription to browse resumes.

You can use the site wide optional and category specific questions to create all of the fields you think you need as well as the category structure to break down categories of job seekers to make searching easier for the employers. Note that if you need to have a range search on a specific field or have a field as a column within the category browsing feature those fields will need to be of the site wide optional field type. You can set those fields as "numeric only" and employers could search "by range" of those specific fields.

Also note that anyone will be able to browse the categories feature of the site if you allow that feature on your site. But note that only those with a subscription will be able to enter the resume details to view the resume. So we suggest that you do not put any contact information within a category column so anyone without a subscription could make contact.

Another feature you may find useful is the automatic listing titles feature that "builds" the title of a listing/resume from up to four of the site wide optional fields you have configured in the system.
