Automatic Listing Titles

This feature allows you to use the field values a client sets when they place a listing to automatically fill the title field within the placed auction or classified ad.

Highlights of this feature:

  • Replaces title with field values
  • Adds the value of up to 5 fields of your choice to the title field for a classified ad or auction.
  • At the site wide level all site wide optional fields can be used.
  • At the category specific level site wide optional field values AND category specific question values can be used to populate the title using this feature
  • NOTE that only site wide optional fields can be required fields. So if you assign category specific questions to be used within this feature you must accept that they may not be filled in. We suggest that you include at least one site wide optional field in this configuration and require it or you may have some listings without titles if the client chooses not to fill them in.

Where do you manage the automatic titles feature in the admin tool?

The site wide configuration for this feature would be at the bottom of this page:

LISTING SETUP > FIELDS TO USE

That admin tool looks like this:

To set this at a category by category level look to the bottom of this admin tool page:

CATEGORIES > CATEGORY SETUP > [EDIT] (next to category to set for) > [QUESTIONS]

And this admin tool looks like this:

Note that while this feature has a category specific configuration it is not hierarchical. There is no "use parent configuration" setting for this feature. If you wish to use this configuration per category the "automatic title feature" must be set for that category. Even if you set the field configuration to "use parent configuration" you must still set the fields to use for that category within that category's admin tool.

Things to know when managing automatic titles

  • Any category specific configuration of this must include it's own category specific configuration even if that category's field configuration is set to "use parent settings"
  • If you do not set a category specific automatic title for a category, while that same category's category field configuration is set to "use parent settings" and that parent category field has automatic titles the current categories auctions and classified ads will NOT have a title value
