Category Specific Costs [S]

Fee-bases Price Plans

The ability to edit fees (cost specifics) on a category by category basis is only available with Fee-Based Price Plans. When editing a Fee-Based Price Plan from the Price Plans Home page, one of the options you will see is "category specific costs". Click on this link and you will see a page that displays all of the categories on your site, as well as, links for each category for you to edit.

By default, you will see that each category has the Base Price Plan attached to it. This means that the base prices that are associated with that overall Price Plan (on the cost specifics page) are currently associated with each category. If you want to add a different Price Plan, other than the "Base Price Plan" to any category, simply press the click to add link. When you do so, a page will display, much like the cost specifics page, allowing you to make additional price settings only to the category you have just selected and all of its subcategories.

When accessing the click to add link for any category, the page offers several settings to be applied only to that category and only for users of that Price Plan. These settings are discussed below.

After making your changes, click the save button at the bottom to save your changes. This will now take you to a page that displays each of the subcategories that belong to the category you just changed. Following the same procedure you can change the Price Plan costs for each of these subcategories. Otherwise, the same settings you previously made for the parent category will also apply to its subcategories as well.

When you are finished making all of your changes, click appropriate back to link for the category you are currently editing. You will see that the category changes you have just entered can now be edited or deleted. You no longer see the Base Price Plan label associated with the category you just edited. If you click delete, you will simply be deleting the category specific Price Plan you just created. When doing so, the original Base Price Plan will once again be applied to that category.

Another option you have when setting up your category specific costs is to add them directly to the subcategories instead of their parent categories. From the Category Specific Pricing main page, click on the desired category and navigate to the subcategory that you want to update the Price Plan specifics for. Any changes that you make will only be applied to that subcategory and all of those below it.

<tip c n>NOTE: If you add a category specific Price Plan to any Price Plan, then the option for the seller to change the category of their current listing will be disabled. This will stop abuse of this system if you happen to have significant differences in listing placement costs from one category to another. Meaning, a user will not be able to list an inexpensive category and then later edit their listing’s category to one with a much higher cost per listing placement.</tip>

General Listing Placement and Renewal Charging Methods

Charge Same Fee for Each Listing

This Listing Fee Assessment overrides the charge per listing fee you specified at the main Price Plan 'cost specifics' level, but only for this current category and its subcategories.

This Renewal Fee Assessment overrides the listing renewal cost fee you specified at the main Price Plan 'cost specifics' level, but only for this current category and its subcategories.

Charge fee Based On Price Field Seller Enters For Each Listing

This setting allows you to set a incremental bracket system to determine the cost of a listing. The value entered into the price field of a listing will be compared to the bracket system you create here to determine the cost. These costs will affect listings placed in this category and its subcategories.

<tip c n>Note that once you begin creating a bracket system you will need to complete that bracket system before leaving that admin tool. If you do so you will leave an incomplete bracket system which will cause errors on the client side. You end a bracket system by choosing "and up" on your last bracket and entering.

There is no way to edit a bracket within a bracket system you have created. If you need to make a change to a bracket system you will need to recreate that whole bracket system as the first value of the next bracket system will delete the previous bracket system.</tip>

Charge Fee Based on Duration Seller Chooses for Each Listing

Charging by this way sets the charge for placement and renewal based on the durations you enter into this admin tool. The durations you enter here will be the only durations that client will get a choice from when placing a listing in this category and under this price plan. The choice the client makes as duration will determine the cost they have for placement or renewal of that listing. This feature will affect listings placed in this category and its subcategories.

Note that if you want category specific price plan specific listing durations this is the feature that will accomplish that for you. You could enter all the durations you wish yet enter the same price for each duration.
