Registration Verification and Emails

You control the register complete emails to registrant and admin as well as the options for email verification, force admin approval of registrations within the following admin tool settings:

EMAIL SETUP > NOTIFICATION EMAIL SETTINGS > Register Complete (admin section)
EMAIL SETUP > NOTIFICATION EMAIL SETTINGS > Register Complete (user section)
EMAIL SETUP > NOTIFICATION EMAIL SETTINGS > Registration Verification System

The above settings are illustrated in the following screenshot and you'll also notice another "verify email text" link that will link you to the text admin tool for the text used in the email verification process:

There are four options for the registration verification feature:

  1. Disable Verification System - this allows any verification to complete as long as the registration form is filled correctly
  2. Verify E-Mail, with Notify ADMIN on Attempt OFF - This turns on the email verification system but does not notify the admin when there is a new registration attempt
  3. Verify E-Mail, with Notify ADMIN on Attempt ON - This turns on the email verification system and notifies the admin when there is a new registration attempt
  4. Admin Approves All Registrations - This forces all registrations to be approved by the admin user.

To manage the registration email verification system look to the following admin tool setting:

EMAIL SETUP > NOTIFICATION EMAIL SETTINGS > REGISTRATION VERIFICATION SYSTEM

Most clients use the email verification system to verify that the email the user entered is a valid email address. This is the default configuration the software comes installed with. If used, an email will be sent by the system to the email address that the user entered. The email will contain a link for the user to click on (or copy/paste into a browser window). Doing so will complete the registration process for that user. There are several settings you can choose from regarding how the software will handle the registration verification process on your site.

<tip c n>Note that the text throughout the registration process is by default to support the email verification feature being in use within the software. You should check that text to make sure it matches your needs anyway but especially if you use a different configuration than the default "verification on" configuration. </tip>

The options in the registration verification setting are explained in more detail below:

Disable Verification System

When a new user registers they are automatically activated and do not have to verify that their e-mail address is legitimate. In other words, you will not be required to approve any user registrations but there will be nothing in the system verifying that is a real user.

Verify E-Mail, with Notify Admin on Attempt OFF

Enable the e-mail verification system, but do NOT send a notification e-mail to the admin when a new user attempts to register. After completion of the registration form the registration is placed in the REGISTRATION SETUP > UNAPPROVED REGISTRATIONS queue and the email sent to the client to verify their email. The admin is not notified of the registration attempt. Once the user verifies their email that registration is removed from the unapproved registrations queue and the user is inserted into the system.

Verify E-Mail, with Notify ADMIN on Attempt ON

Enable the E-Mail verification system and send the admin a notification e-mail when a new user attempts to register. The process here is the same as the previous selection except that the admin is notified of the registration attempt. This can be used to remind to check that queue. Many registrants do not get the registration email or lose/delete it. You can resend that registration email through that queue or just manually approve the registration if you have correspondence with them.

Admin Approves All Registrations

The admin must "approve" a registration before the user is active and allowed to log in. If using this setting, you should also select 'yes' for the 'Register Complete' setting above, so that you are notified when a registration is awaiting your approval. You can approve registrations awaiting your approval through the following admin menu:

REGISTRATION SETUP > UNAPPROVED REGISTRATIONS
