This feature allows the client to reset the start date of their listing to now. While that doesn't sound like a lot it can have an impact for sites that have their default display order set to "newest listings first". The software comes installed with "newest listings first" by default when installed. So essentially this allows the client to temporarily "bump" their listings to the top of the category browsing results and newest listings modules until a new listing is placed after them or another client bumps their own listing behind them.

• Allows pushing/bumping a listing to the top of category browsing results until other listings are placed or other sellers bump their own listings behind them
• This feature will only have an appreciable affect on your site if your default category browsing display order is set to "newest listings first"
• This feature is a site wide feature. It affects all users if turned on.
• As the start date for a listing is reset that bumped listing appears at the top of the newest listing module (when set newest first). This would be the only appreciable affect for users if your default category browsing display order were NOT set to "newest listings first".
• The "bump" button appears in the client side current live listing admin tool for each live listing. The button to "bump" is next to the listing edit, listing renew, listing upgrade,…etc buttons for an individual listing.
• The bump listing can only be used on any individual live listing as often as you allow within the configuration setting for this feature.
• The listing expiration date is not affected when using this feature
• There is no way to charge for the ability to use this feature. It is free to all if enabled.
• Great way to get users to return to your site more often to "bump" their listings to the top of results.

Look to the following setting within the admin tool:

LISTING SETUP > GENERAL SETTINGS > Allow sellers to bump listings to top of category browsing results temporarily

To turn this feature off set that configuration's value to 0. That configuration when not 0 determines the number of days between use for any individual listing. So if you set this configuration to "5" the client will only be able to bump any individual listing every 5 days. So 5 days after they place their listing the bump button would appear for that individual listing within that sellers "my current listings". As this setting is calculated per live listing the client could have all, some or none of their listings available to be bumped at one time.

• If you set this value to 5 and you only have listing duration choices up to 4 days your clients would never see this feature.
• The max number of days between bumps is 100 days.
• There is no way to set for less than a day.
• The software has the ability to set browsing display order on a site wide basis. You can also set different display orders for auctions and classifieds. You can also set category browsing display order on a category by category basis. Soooo….if you have different display orders for different listing types and/or categories that will affect the impact of this feature.
