Edit Text [S]

When you first come to this page by clicking on the "edit" button for the language you wish to edit, there will be a list of different text entries with an edit button next to each one, similar to what is illustrated below:

List of Text Fields

Click on the "Edit" button (highlighted above) to edit that text. When editing text, if you are editing text that should not have HTML in it (such as text for the title of the page, or text for the subject of an e-mail), be sure to turn off the WYSIWYG editor if it is on, see the next section for more details.

<tip c n>Note that any text changes made within this admin tool will not affect any text.csv files you have on the server or locally. You will need to re-export the language involved within the LANGUAGES admin tool to affect the text.csv file on your server and then re-download to save those changes locally.</tip>

WYSIWYG Editor: Friend or Foe?

<tip c w>Warning: When editing text only the wysiwyg places <p>…</p> around any "non html surrounded" text. Thus all of our warnings about turning the wysiwyg off if you do not want this to happen. If you are editing text within the wysiwyg you will not even see the <p>…</p> surrounding your text until you turn the wysiwyg off.</tip>

The WYSIWYG editor can sometimes be helpful as an easy way to format text. However, it can also cause problems if it is used on text that should not contain any HTML. For those instances where you do not need to have HTML formatting for text, you should click on the link "(Add/Remove editor)" to temporarily turn off the WYSIWYG editor. See the illustration below:

Edit text field

<tip c w>Warning: If you are editing text that will appear in an e-mail, especially the e-mail subject, you will need to turn off the WYSIWYG editor. Also, if editing text for the e-mail subject, be sure there are no extra "newlines" before or after the text.</tip>
