These are the instructions to follow in order to start using Google Maps on your site.

1. If you do not yet have a Google Maps API Key visit the Google APIs Console at https://code.google.com/apis/console and log in with your Google Account (or create a Google Account if you do not already have one).
   1. Newer Google Developers Console View: Click the "Enable an API" button you see in the Google "Project Dashboard" page and then scroll down and click on "Google Maps Embed API"as seen below: . Toggle the "on/off" switch you see there to the "on" position as seen here: . Once "on" you would go to the "Credentials" page in the "APIs & auth" section of the left hand menu. Use the API KEY shown there:
   2. Older Google Developers Console View: Services link from the left-hand menu, then activate the Google Maps API v3 service (not the "v2" service). If your v2 API service is on you should turn it off. Once the service has been activated, your API key is available from the API Access page, in the Simple API Access section. Use the Key for browser apps.
2. Install and enable the Google Maps addon if you have not already, following Installation of Addons. <
3. In your admin panel, go to Addons > Google Maps > Settings, and enter your Google Maps API key. Save the settings. <
4. Change the rest of the setting if you wish to change them from the defaults. <
5. At the bottom of that same page in your admin, after the settings have been saved, ensure that the Google Map Preview displays correctly in the Maps Preview section. If it does not, check the settings and that cURL is working on your server, if the map does not display here it will not display on listing details pages. <
6. Add the tag {addon author='geo_addons' addon='google_maps' tag='listing_map'} to your classified details and auction details templates, which ever is appropriate for your software product. If using a template set design based on the default design from 5.0+, the template file(s) you will need to edit are listing_classified.tpl and/or listing_auction.tpl template(s). Within these templates you would insert this tag where you want the Google Maps addon to appear in your listing details page.<
7. In Listing Setup > Fields to Use make sure to allow using the following fields:
   • Mapping Location¹⁾ <

1. Place a test listing on your site, and be sure to enter the mapping data. Once the listing is placed, view the listing details to see if the map displays. <

<tip cn>Make sure you test/use this feature with an actual address that can be found by the Google Maps site. If the address is not a good address the window may never appear</tip>
